กริยาช่วย Be หรือ Auxiliary Verb: Be ใช้ร่วมกับกริยาอื่นเช่น Past Participle ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นดังคำคุณศัพท์ และมีบุพบทเฉพาะตัว เช่น

To be displeased with ไม่พอใจใน

To be dissatisfied with ไม่พอใจใน หรือ กับ

To be bored with เบื่อกับ

To be tired of เหนื่อยใน

To be surprised at ประหลาดใจใน

To be disappointed in ผิดหวังใน

To be used to เคยชินใน หรือ กับ

TO be interested in สนใจใน

To be accustomed to คุ้นเคยกับ

ส่วนประธานของกริยา be จะใช้ I, he, she เป็นหลัก ถ้าเป็นเรื่องปัจจุบัน จะใช้ I am, He is, She is ถ้าเป็นอดีต จะใช้ I was, He was, She was ดังตัวอย่างการสนทนาที่ตอบสถานการณ์ด้วยตำบางคำข้างต้น

Teacher: Your uncle gave you a necktie that you didn’t like. You return it to the store.
